Suisse Shotokan Karate was founded in Bern on 7 May 1977. It is dedicated to teaching and practising traditional karate such as was codified by Sensei Gichin Funakoshi.

SSK benefits from the guidance of Sensei Tsutomu OHSHIMA.

SSK is inspired by the following 3 guidelines :

	the practice of karate as personal discipline requesting a perfect physical and mental dedication while strictly observing Sensei Funakoshi's spirit and teachings
	voluntary help commitment of all its directors and teachers
	the recruitment of its members from all social, racial and religious backgrounds
