Sensei Tsutomu OHSHIMA |
Sensei Tsutomu OHSHIMA was born in 1930.In 1953 he graduated in economics
at the Waseda University in Tokyo. While studying at this prestigious school he
also practised karate under the strict guidance of Sensei FUNAKOSHI himself.
His
master, keen on introducing karate to the world, asked him to emigrate to the
U.S.A. which he did in 1955. The following year he founded "Shotokan Karate
of America" the oldest and most important karate corporation in the U.S.A.
In
1962 he lived for almost a year in Paris, thus giving French karate the technical
foundations necessary to its rise.
In 1964 he created the France Shotokan corporation.
Later he taught karate in many countries, among which Switzerland where he heads
