Mr. Bernard CHERIX |
Mr. Bernard CHERIX is the veritable pioneer of Swiss karate as a martial
art he first introduced in Sion, from 1957 on. Also acquainted with other martial
arts (judo, ju-jitsu, aikido), he studied in France and invited numerous experts
to Switzerland. In 1966 he met Sensei OHSHIMA in Paris. This encounter was
the beginning of a long friendship and would deeply modify his approach of karate.
He had thus found his way from which he would not part for many years to come. At
his invitation, Sensei OHSHIMA directed his first training session in Sion in
1968. Mr. CHERIX is the founder of the Sion dojo. A founding member of the
European Karate Union, he was also nominated Honorary Chairman of the Swiss Karate
Corporation. Today the Honorary Chairman of SSK, he keeps a certain distance
from the world of martial arts. | | |
